Initial Config

When receiving your IDP for the first time, you might want to unbox it. Once it is unboxed, you will need a null modem cable. Go ahead and connect the null modem cable to the IDP and then connect the other side to your system. At this point you will need to access the serial port on your system (I generally use putty for this). The specific settings for the console are:

  • 9600 bps
  • 8 data bits
  • No parity
  • 1 stop bit
  • No flow control

Once we are connected you will not see anything. This is because we need to turn it on. Once you turn it on, it will start the boot process. Once the IDP is booted, you will get a login prompt. The default username is root and the password is abc123.
